When we returned to our mobile home, from Mount Forest, on Christmas Day Jannich remembered the annual dinner that is held in the Durham Town Hall. It is spearheaded by a local couple and run by volunteers. We decided to check it out!
What a good plan. Here anyone who was alone or lonely on this family day could have an afternoon of fellowship and Christmas cheer.
The room was packed with decorated seasonal tables, a musical group, door prizes, appetizers and most important of all, PEOPLE.
Down one side of the room a long buffet table stretched. It was covered with all of the traditional Christmas foods. After everybody had eaten their fill, food still remained for some to take home in carry out containers.
We made some new acquaintances, were made to feel welcome and left with a warm feeling.
There was no charge but one could donate to help with the costs. What a great idea!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of sharing Christmas morning with Ruth's nephew and his family in Mount Forest. The table was covered with hot and cold snacks, the two boys
were happy to share their presents and an atmosphere of peace and joy filled their home.
Sarah had decorated the outdoor area with bough and dried elements from nature while Chris had strung lights in several trees.
We are so grateful to have been a part of the childhood experiences of Chris, and now to be be included as his children grow up.
Sarah is an adept storyteller with a flair for detail so we could picture the snowbanks and the children giving advice during a recent Sunday snowstorm drive two blocks to church.
Needless to say Ontario is having an old fashioned winter, reminiscent of the "fifties".

This past weekend Jannich spoke with his brothers in Denmark and his sister in Sweden.
Thanks to "Skype" he had long conversations, at a low cost, with all of them.
The photo was taken in Alaska,2006 at the Alaskan Angler RV Park,Ninilichick where we lived for two months.

What is the measure of a man? Presently, that is something that we are considering. What matters? Where are we going? - More hugs, more connection, more deep breathing in of our surroundings- Total connection with our maker- Life is so short! Just a breeze in the wind, a puff of smoke, here today and gone tomorrow.
I grieve today for my beautiful nephew, Darwin, and for the near future of my husband, Jannich.

We attended our church yesterday and heard a message that just seemed tailored to us. That is the way the living word of God works. We should not be amazed! The theme was about "worry".
We are thankful for a timely message.

Yesterday (December 7) we were informed that Jannich's bone scan has been postponed until January 18th.
So, we have more waiting to prolong the process to see if the cancer has spread.
An ECG is scheduled for this Monday.

We went to Owen Sound Monday, December 3rd to speak with a Thoracic Surgeon. He is fairly certain that Jannich has lung cancer.
The mass is 3 cm by 7 cm extending from the top section of his right lung into the middle section near the middle of his body.
The doctor said that Jannich is a good candidate for surgery as he is not weakened by other illnesses.
Today we rented a furnished house in Owen Sound so that Jannich will be close to the hospital for his treatment. We move in January 8th. We are blessed to find this house about 1.5 miles from the hospital and available because the owners are going to China to do exchange teaching.
They are easy about the move out time so we have chosen to stay four months. Then we will go from there. We plan to store the trailer at Morry's Trailer Sales outside Hanover.
We continue to give thanks for the astute and persistent Doctor we met in Quebec.
